SADO Offers Felony Sentencing Seminar in Marquette
Friday June 1, 2012
The State Appellate Defender Office's Criminal Defense Resource Center, by means of a generous grant from the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), is offering a great opportunity to learn about new caselaw and statutory changes to Michigan Sentencing Law. The felony sentencing seminar will take place on Friday June 1, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Marquette County Courthouse. This is a comprehensive update on Michigan law with information relevant to all criminal law practitioners. The first portion of the seminar will provide updates on recent case law and statutory changes to the Michigan legislative sentencing guidelines and other areas of Michigan Sentencing law. The second part of the seminar will focus on diversion programs and alternatives to conviction and/or prison (including SAI questions). We will also follow-up with a session on frequently asked sentencing questions. The seminar is free of charge, although advance registration is required. Seats fill up quickly so please reserve now. To register, please contact Heather Waara at the Criminal Defense Resource Center, (313) 256-9833 or email at hwaara@sado.org.
